The bracket is set
Italy and the Netherlands open the knockout phase before Brazil face Japan. The following day brings Turkiye against Canada and top-seeded United States against host China.
The matchups reward preliminary-phase performance, but the Finals remove the safety of a long table. One poor serving run or one rotation that cannot escape pressure can end a title campaign.
Four quarterfinals, four different questions
Italy enter as back-to-back defending champions, while the United States carry the strongest preliminary record. Brazil and Japan offer a contrast in physical pressure and defensive persistence. Turkiye meet a Canadian team reaching this stage for the first time.
China's host place gives the last quarterfinal its own atmosphere. Facing the top seed is the hardest assignment on paper, but a home crowd can change the emotional shape of a short knockout match.
Small margins will decide Macao
The direct-elimination formula places extra value on first-ball quality. Serve receive, transition efficiency and the ability to score after a long rally will determine whether teams can impose their preferred style.
The preliminary phase identified the eight best-positioned teams. Macao will decide which one can solve three different opponents in five days.
